OCA - Stay at Home Update – April 9th, 2021

The Provincial Government has implemented a Stay-at-Home Order effective April 8, 2021. Details relating to the order can be found at the Province wide Shutdown Website

Regulations:

Stay-at-Home Order (O-Reg 265/21) – Guides Ontarians as to their individual responsibilities.

Rules for Areas in Stage 1 (Shutdown Zone) – O-Reg 82/20 – General rules for the Shutdown Zone

Highlights as it applies to cycling:

Stay-at-Home Order

Schedule 1

1 (1) Every individual shall remain at the residence at which they are currently residing at all times unless leaving their residence is necessary for one or more of the following purposes…

16. Exercising, including,

  1. walking or moving around outdoors using an assistive mobility device, or
  2. using an outdoor recreational amenity that is permitted to be open under the Stage 1 Order.

Rules for Areas in Stage 1 (Shutdown Zone)

Schedule 2

48 (4) …no indoor or outdoor sports or recreational classes are permitted at any indoor or outdoor sport and recreational facilities.

What this means for cycling:

  1. Indoor and outdoor in-person coach led or instruction-based riding/training is NOT PERMITTED
  2. It remains unclear if a club or team can, or should, organize a group ride. As a result, the OCA will not sanction in-person club or team activities until more clarity can be obtained regarding permissible activities. In the interim, should a club or team wish to organize a ride, our advice is to contact your Public Health Unit (PHU) and obtain a response in writing.

The OCA will continue working with our advisors including the government of Ontario to obtain further clarity.

OCA - Return to Sport Update – August 20th, 2020

OCA sanctioned group activities have increased to 20 participants per group [unless regional or facility restrictions dictate less]. A reminder that all participants must maintain a minimum 2M physical distance at all times. Please review the Return to Sport Update V6 and Progressive Return to Sport Guidelines V2 for all safety protocols.
